Farstad Shipping has been awarded a three year contract for construction support vessel Far Sentinel.
The contract, with Subtec SA de CV in Mexico, will see Far Sentinel, a Vard 3 07 design, undertake light construction work, inspection, maintenance and repair and other subsea activity in the Gulf of Mexico. The deal includes options to extend the contract for a further three years.
“This is an important and significant contract for Farstad Shipping,” said the company’s ceo Karl-Johan Bakken. “It proves that even in a very challenging market we are able to secure long-term contracts for our vessels.”
Mr Bakken noted that the company has now secured work for both subsea vessels delivered in 2015. He said Farstad’s “strong position” in the subsea market, “is vital for us in the time ahead.” Far Sentinel will start work for Subtec in December 2015.
